i'm not going to start this off with how much i suck at blogging....we all know that already.

so, back from the 4th avenue street fair in tucson. tucson has so much interesting energy...

what i love the most about it is that every type of person imaginable attends this show.
i seriously love that....talking to so many people is exhausting yet stimulating at the same time.

no other show i do seems to draw this huge crowd of humanity.

so...that is the last art show for the month. now i'm Immersed in working on my "uncommon
beads" for the To Bead True Blue Show at the end of january... i'm totally stoked about what
i'm creating for this show.

we have really good sky here. i could pretty much do a whole blog on it....

spent yesterday on a drawing....a drawing i have had struggles with....mostly because i had high expectations for it.

it is so easy (for me) to make an endless amount of art in my head...the transference of the idea to reality is where i find indifference.

anyway....i am completely happy with the drawing. large canvas collages are in the works with it....pretty stoked about the whole thing....

got up way early..."arted" ....took the big dog for a walk...it's all good today. enjoying the happy.

forgot to mention the drawing....a raven...a very very good raven!

just finished this one. 30x40. in time for last weekends art show in Taos....kit carson park. an ill fated show for me.

a small tornado (or "micro burst") chose my booth out of the entire show to "take out".

it wasn't pretty.... the tent WITH it's cement weights flew about 25 feet into the air and landed behind us. :( needless to say it completely made a huge pile of mess in my booth. it was not fixable. walls and stability bars were tweeked. there was no putting it all back together. we packed up and left.

after seeing it all airborne i was completely thankful that no one was hurt. it was completely out of control.

amazingly none of my art work was damaged. which was pretty unbelievable considering it was all in a heap on the ground with the walls on top of it.

pretty discouraging....ok, depressing..... lost the income of the entire weekend. and a new tent will have to be bought. and some welding done on the wall structure.

on a good note. i decided that i had no choice but to make a "gift" of the days that i thought i was going to be working the show.

we stayed the night at the bed and breakfast in taos that we booked. "touchstone inn".

it was beautiful....chatted with the wonderful inn keepers, amber and brad. who contributed to my weekend going in a better direction. the inn is beautiful and perfect for classes.

i envision smallish classes....everyone stays at the inn....enjoys gourmet breakfast by brad. an inspired time of creating and taking in the beauty of taos. perfection....

planning something wonderful for this event....it's in the works.

also....saturday night we were able to go to zach and missy's for a mothers day celebration....i would not have been able to go because of the show....we had a really really great time hanging out with them and missy's fun family....the "boys" played music after and it was awesome. i'm so proud of my zach. and very grateful he decided to relocate here in new mexico....

ok....i'm about 25 hours into getting shit (sorry) ready for an IRS audit at the end of the month. i seriously hate paperwork. especially if it has to do with taxes and millions of tiny receipts.

i figure just to hunker down and get it done so it only impacts a few days instead of a little bit in many days. just get it done.

well...my poor blog. i have abandoned it for 6 months! mostly because i lost my password...and also because i guess i've been too consumed by busy-ness that i just didn't post...i lost a dear friend on wednesday. i actually wrote this yesterday. but it took until today to straighten out the password issue... i lost a special friend... my wish is that everyone have at least one "kat" in their lives....

Dear kat....tonight I found out that you passed from this world yesterday. You would know how sad I am.....we have been dear friends for 17 years.

My first rubberstamp show I met you. We became fast friends....you stashed your crayola suitcase under my table....we talked tattoos.... We talked everything. Over the years we shared stories about pretty much everything...family, friends....animals. Everything.

We had an instant connection that lasted over the years. Even though we lived far apart I always felt close to you.

Remember when we met in madison in 2005? You brought some of bob's special wine and we had a fun little party in your room.....that was the last time I saw you in person.

I save emails from my kids....and you....i have a folder with over 200 emails that you have written me since 2004. You always reminded me of my grandma and my mama.....you seemed like family to me.

I am glad I saved them....especially now. I will miss hearing your stories so much.

You are one of the dearest sweetest souls I have ever known.....and now you are with your bob and your old friends and your kittys.....especially bustopher. :)

Something funny....yesterday afternoon....maybe when you crossed over. I came across a bunch of pictures you sent me long ago. And among them was a postcard of cable, Wi. With all the places you told me about numbered and explained on the back.

I will treasure that and our friendship forever.

trying to keep up a little better with this blog that i have been badly ignoring....maybe it had something to do with 5 shows in 5 weeks....yeah...that makes sense.

so...met with our friend susan yesterday to have a marathon art show planning/discussing session at flying star cafe in bernalillo... we had a great time and actually got a bit accomplished.

for some reason getting this year scheduled has been more confusing then usual.

getting ready to hit the road for calif. mandy's baby is coming and we want to spend some quality time hanging out together while we wait....so completely exciting. i can't wait to meet my sweet 3rd grandchild.

drove all night long and got home from the show in mesquite at 4 a.m. this morning. fun weekend stayed with mary kay and linda....and saw friends we don't see often enough....some favorite texas customers....all good....

so....here is my new class "beading heart art doll". i was going to teach it at portland art and soul....but realized i have a schedule conflict so i am waiting to find a venue to teach it. maybe another mini retreat at my place....we will see....

the cool part of this is that the beaded heart part is actually removable and can be worn as a necklace.

ok.....of to work on birthday gifts...lilah will be 3 and little benny (aka:neechie) will be one on valentines day....little cuties they are.

so....i completely suck at blogging....and then i apparently lost my password. finally got it figured out.

it is going to be a great year. i have been busy in the studio designing new products and images for the rubber stamp booth.

also did a "mini art" day right before christmas. that was a hit so here is my next one. we will be making an embellished journal using my brand new collage sheets.

looking forward to the mesquite, TX convention. first convention of the year.

from hanging out with mandy and nick. (got to hear the baby's heartbeat! so exciting)

so much fun....it is an interesting feeling to go back to where i lived for so many years. can't really put my finger on what it is. i think my roots have grown deep and fast in new mexico. i wish i could figure it out.

i feel like i don't really "belong" there. but i love being there....strange. i mean seriously...i lived there my whole life until a year ago. funny....in the words of my brilliant son in law, nick, "it is what it is". and i will leave it at that.

two rubber stamp shows, albuquerque and mesa. albuquerque was very odd this year. it seemed like we were maybe having a "secret" show that no one knew about. no people.....well pretty much no people. but it is always good to be amongst my co-horts in the rubber stamp business. friends of many years that i just don't see enough due to the fact that we all live scattered around the country....

long car drives and airplane trips... nice opportunities for me to think, plan and knit or bead.

my "mini retreat" in december is pretty much almost full....i'm looking forward to that. i like to keep alot going on....

so....off to paint. i have two weeks before the rio grande art festival in albuquerque. weekend after tofurky day. and then the following weekend i will be at the "celebration of craftswomen" in san francisco.

there is a nasty big pile of paperwork that is needing attention. i would just like to shred it all and not deal with it.

so, what's happening today? well, i'm going to be working on new rubberstamp designs. i have some great ideas and can't wait to get them going.

this afternoon we are going to a cat show! sounds fun, my friend lauren is working in a cat rescue booth so we will visit her and see all the fancy kitties. and no, there will be no more additions to my cat fam. i definately have plenty of them already.

this blogger thing has me confused. and i haven't taken the time to figure it out. so, basically these balloon shots were taken saturday morning. the balloons current brought them to rio rancho....so, you see how they are coming over the hill towards us....then right over head....then landing at the end of our driveway!!!! awesome....and then on our drive over to do the show we saw them randomly landing in neighborhoods....parking lots....all over. it is a magical time to live in new mexico. or actually more magical then usual. the show was great....and after 3 weekends of art shows in a row....we are heading off to santa fe for 2 days of not work.

my booth at the genoa candy dance show. this show has been going on for 89 years....how did i miss it before this? :-) i had a most excellent spot...3 open sides, by the path, under trees....loved it. the very best part was (other then selling my biggest piece) was we stayed at ben and christy's new house. i got to hang out with my little people....my little people, lilah and baby ben are pretty much the two most adorable people in the world....

ok....working on figuring this new blog out. i didn't want the pics where they seem to be on my page. oh well. i don't have the time to fix that right now. i set up the balloon fiesta show tomorrow and today i need to paint.....

i thought i was just doing good to get a blog post up! pretty busy here....

getting used to a new blog. i like the look of the old blog better but i'm really not able to make that happen. long story. re-doing the silver site will "erase" the old blog....sad but true.

i love the old blog.

have to get over it.....ok, i'm painting like crazy to get ready for my show in minden, NV this weekend. and see my little people.... can't wait.

just spent a wonderfilled week with nick and mandy....did lots of eating, laughing, field trips....just so much good stuff it is hard to condense it for a blog post. just all good....they are much fun to be around and hang out with. nick built us a beautiful fire pit....gave it a trial run and it was awesome....
